what is WineDater? 

WineDater is a wine tasting experience for singles. One-to-one dates give you the chance to get to know a little more about your date rather than be rushed or intimidated by groups. You also have the opportunity to taste new wines which acts as a fun (and tasty!) ice-breaker. These events are for single people who like to mingle, taste wine and have a great night out.

how does a WineDater event work? 

WineDater only works with good quality venues, the sort you're used to.  When you arrive you will be greeted by your host and introduced to other WineDaters over a drink before the start of the main event. Once the dating begins you will have 10 to 14 dates each lasting around 5-7 minutes. During this time you will taste different wines blind and guess, with your dates, what you think they are. The person who correctly identifies the most wines wins a prize!  Usually WineDaters will move into the bar after the event to continue the fun. attending an event on your own? 

Please don’t worry about attending an event on your own. Many people do. There will be someone to greet you as soon as you turn up to put you at ease and make introductions. Once you get there and start dating you will wonder why you worried in the first place.

do I need to know a lot about wines to be a WineDater? 

Absolutely not!! Please don’t worry if your wine knowledge is limited. Like the dating, the wine tasting is all about enjoying yourself. Whether you guess the right wine or meet Mr/Miss Right the most important thing is to have fun. Of course, you might learn a thing or two about wine along the way. how long does an event take? 

The dating usually lasts around two hours with one or two breaks. There is always mingling before and most WineDaters stay on afterwards to get to know each other a little better.

will each sample be a full glass of wine?  

No. You will be given a sample size which equates to about a third of a small glass. Most daters do not drink the whole sample, but if you do, it is approximately the same as half a bottle of wine over the evening. For further information on safe and responsible drinking please visit www.drinkaware.co.uk

what are WineDater score cards? 

These will be given to you on the night and allow you to tick the people that you like and want to see again. You will take these away with you at the end of the night and use them to complete the online matching system found on the WineDater website. 

how do I know which of my dates liked me? 

After the event, you will log onto the WineDater website and complete the online matching form. Here you will tick all the dates that you liked and are interested in contacting again. You will submit your answers (please note that you only get one chance at this) and then you will be able to see whether your dates have submitted their answers and whether they like you. 

what happens if someone ticks me but I didn’t tick them? 

You will be able to see your results on your profile, if someone has ticked you then you will be able to see their profile page as well as send them a message. If you did not tick them they will not be able to send you a message or see your profile - so the ball is in your court.

how do I book tickets? 

Simply select the event advertised on the page showing all the events for singles in London you want to attend and click on the 'book' button.  WineDater accepts most major credit/debit cards.  Please note that WineDater cannot accept other means of payment, nor can tickets be purchased at the venue.

will I receive tickets for the event? 

No. You will receive a confirmation e-mail which you should take along with you. Your name will be on the host’s list for the event that you are attending.

can I book tickets for my friends? 

Yes. Providing there are enough spaces available. You can book for as many male and female friends as you like. Please note that you will need their full name and e-mail address to do so.

should I dress to impress? 

Dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable in but remember that you might want to make a good impression. Guys, creased t-shirts are not very flattering! Many people come straight from work, so you won’t look overdressed if you are wearing a suit. Please also check the venue’s dress code.

what happens if I can’t attend an event? 

If you really cannot make it to your event, please contact WineDater.  However, if you are unable to give more than 48 hours notice then please contact the the venue direct. It is imperative that these events have equal numbers of the men and women attending, so unfortunately refunds cannot be given. However you may be able to transfer your ticket to someone else of the same gender.
